TOWCESTER RACECOURSE

Towcester racecourse is set in parkland and is considered to be one of the most scenic courses in racing. The track hosts jumps racing and, due to the nature of the course, is known as one of the most testing and stamina-sapping tracks in Britain. Towcester made headlines in 2013 when A.P McCoy rode his 4000th winner aboard Mountain Tunes for trainer Jonjo O’Neill and owner J.P. McManus in a novice hurdle over two miles and five furlongs.

TOWCESTER RACECOURSE MAP

Towcester map

Right handed and very stiff with the final mile uphill. Punishing on testing ground, those who've expended too much energy early almost invariably failing to get home. Therefore, be wary of those who seem to be travelling strongly before the straight as the complexion can change quickly. The fences aren't overly stiff but the casualty rate is still fairly high because so many fall through tiredness, whilst the two downhill fences running away from the stands are tricky. It's not unknown for horses to falter on catching sight of the stable entrance on the run-in on the chase track.
