King George VI Chase

The King George VI Chase, which was first run in 1937, is a Grade 1 steeplechase over three miles which is open to horses aged four and older. It is traditionally held on Boxing Day at Kempton Park, though it is occasionally switched in either date or venue due to abandonments caused by poor weather. Some of the biggest names in racing have won this race including Arkle, Timeform’s highest rated steeplechaser, and the Paul Nicholls-trained Kauto Star, who won this race five times in six years between 2006 and 2011.
