Unusually for this race there was nothing coming straight here from the Derby but it looked an interesting King Edward, bringing together several smart, progressive sorts, and it's definitely an up-to-scratch renewal in terms of the winner's performance, Eagle Top appealing as the sort that can go on and make a mark in even better company later in the year; it was a well-run affair that favoured those from off the pace to some extent, although regardless of tactics Eagle Top and Adelaide are almost certainly the best of them.
