It can be argued that this wasn't the strongest of Hardwicke fields, not looking so beforehand with the top rated coming out 4 lb below the 5-year standard, but as it turned out well-backed favouriteTelescope improved plenty on the day and put up one of the best recent performances in this race, seeing off his stablemate Hillstar, who was placed in last year's King George, and Pether's Moon, who is a most reliable sort; Ektihaam ensured that it was run at a true gallop and the result is a solid one.
