A race newly downgraded from Group 3 status, despite the presence of Estimate and Leading Light on the recent roll of honour, though despite a lack of depth this form so far as the principals go is more or less up to standard; the pace picked up far enough out to make for a good test and the way the winner travelled and quickened suggests he was the best horse on the day, even though he hampered the strong-challenging runner-up when hanging well inside the final 1f, having to survive a stewards inquiry.
