An up-to-scratch renewal of the Prince of Wales's Stakes and a truly international line-up, even in the unfortunate absence of California Chrome, with top-flight contenders from Japan, France and Australia in the field, though it was runners from closer to home that dominated the closing stages of a tactical race which got rather messy in the straight - the runner-up would have won had the cards fallen rather better for him, while the fourth was better than the result too.
