The previous year's winner Integral stood out on form even with a Group-1 penalty but proved a bitter disappointment and, with a couple of the others not running up to their best, this wasn't quite the race it might've been, only the first 2 reaching a smart level, though the improved winner's effort is more or less up to the standard it's taken to win this in recent seasons; the first 2 were out the back at halfway, but it wasn't a strong pace, making for a test of speed at the trip.
