Not an entirely satisfactory Hardwicke, with a lack of Group 1 form unusual for the race, the majority of the field stepping up in class rather than down, but though it lacked the depth of recent years the performance of the improving Bronze Cannon wasn't far off standard, while the second is the one who represented the best form lines; Barshiba was allowed her head, soon around 10 lengths clear and going fast, ensuring a true test and giving all of the main pack a chance.
