A very smart and fascinating contest, with the English, Irish and French 1000 Guineas winners all represented, whilst last year's champion 2-y-o filly and a couple of others who'd made the frame in a Guineas were also in the mix; as such, even though Again and Elusive Wave (successful in Ireland and France respectively) failed to fire on the day, there's enough depth to suggest the race was a bang-up-to-standard renewal, Ghanaati becoming the first filly since Attraction, in 2004, to win both at Newmarket and here; there was a strong gallop, forced by Chintz, and the first 2 both went under the previous course-record time (since Ascot re-opened in 2006), whilst there was some trouble in behind in the straight, with Rainbow View getting the worst of it.
