Those that were being highly tried outnumbered the fillies with proven form for the level, the latter group including the second and third, both of which contested the Oaks, but neither could live with up-and-coming Silkwood, who won emphatically, producing the best performance seen in the race in recent years; the first 5 were all, to some degree, waited with off the pace set by Majounes Song, and it looked a true test at the trip, for all the final time wasn't quite as good as might have been expected.
