A below-par renewal, reflective of the older milers as a whole, with the probable exception of George Washington, who got going too late in a muddling race, and it will be a surprise if the finishing order reflects the standings in the mile division come the end of the year; Dettori dictated on Ramonti, leading to a very bunched finish, hardly anything making much in the way of inroads, Jeremy the only one, and his turn of foot looked set to prove decisive only for him to throw it away by hanging.
