A typical field for the Britannia, a lot of these 3-y-os unexposed, many campaigned with the race in mind, and winners are sure to emerge from it, for all on the day less than a third of the field were at their best, the winner defying top weight with a smart effort, whilst the second and third are likely to be interesting horses for future handicaps; in contrast to many of the other races on the straight course this week, the draw did seem to play a part here, the field racing as one big group centre to far side, but the best pace came from those who raced more towards the far rail, leaving those drawn in single figures who were in the centre of the course at a disadvantage, making the effort of Ea in second (drawn 2) all the more meritorious.
