With a couple of key horses pulled out due to firm ground conditions on the morning of the race, this wasn't a strong Ribblesdale, all bar Just Pretending (who had stamina doubts) falling well below the standard typically associated with this race, and it duly required less to win it than usual; there wasn't any competition for the lead and Fersah set a modest pace, several of them keen as a result, but tactics didn't have a major impact on the result even so, with the first 2 coming from out the back.
