Further proof, if any were needed, of the recent change in script with so many of the top handicaps, with no 3-y-o participation, a compacted range from top to bottom weight, and apparently exposed sorts heavily involved in the finish, the form no stronger in this than most Saturday handicaps run throughout the year despite the greater prestige, value and field size; much of the wider talk the day before was of a perceived advantage to the high stalls based on Tuesday's results, though that appeared dubious at the time and was blown out of the water, with the group of only 7 who stayed far side including the first 4 home, Arsaadi heading that smaller bunch at a better pace than the leader of the much larger stand side pack, which predictably featured any amount of trouble in running, several shaping better than the result as a consequence, the move by Richard Hughes to switch sides soon after the start aboard Stirring Ballad backfiring most of all.
