had already had a pretty good first season for the yard, holding his form well, but he took it to a new level here, a change of headgear and well-run race at this trip seeming to make all the difference to him after he'd been starting to show the odd quirk; not the best away, held up, headway on bridle 2f out, produced to lead over 1f out, drew clear quickly and even eased a touch near line; the handicapper is unlikely to be particularly generous after this romp, but nearer to hand he is entered in the Cambridgeshire for which he'd shoulder a 4 lb penalty.

This might have been a 0-100 but only 3 wouldn't have got into a 0-90 and there was a shortage of progressive types, just the one 3-y-o lining up, while an unrelenting gallop played into the hands of those coming from further back, though there was no denying the winner was much improved in routing the opposition, who were led home by one of his stablemates.

CHICHESTER had already had a pretty good first season for the yard, holding his form well, but he took it to a new level here, a change of headgear and well-run race at this trip seeming to make all the difference to him after he'd been starting to show the odd quirk; not the best away, held up, headway on bridle 2f out, produced to lead over 1f out, drew clear quickly and even eased a touch near line; the handicapper is unlikely to be particularly generous after this romp, but nearer to hand he is entered in the Cambridgeshire for which he'd shoulder a 4 lb penalty.
