back up in trip after 6 weeks off, isn't the easiest of rides but bounced back to form, not getting the clearest of passages but hard to say he was an unlucky loser, the winner finding extra when it mattered; in touch, typically took strong hold, had to wait for gap over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, challenged entering final 1f, ran on, pulled clear of remainder.

claimer ridden (4 lb out of weights) and back up in trip, didn't have this run to suit, but didn't exactly do himself any favours by blowing the start; slowly into stride, in rear, ridden under 3f out, carried head bit awkwardly, never dangerous, not ideally placed.

A useful handicap in which the front pair pulled clear, Howzer Black making all and displaying a willing attitude to justify market support; the pace was only fair at best and it proved hard for those held up to get involved.

HOWZER BLACK (IRE) whose last run is easily excused, was backed at long odds and recorded a third win of the season, producing a career best and proving determined to deny the runner-up; led, driven over 2f out, tackled entering final 1f, dug deep under pressure.
