The winner's performance rather than the race as a whole was worthy of a Group 1, the majority not firing fully including the Australian pair, though Nicconi shaped like the second best horse on the day, but full credit to Equiano for imposing himself on the rest from the off, that and the disjointed field (split initially with 5 staying towards the middle) making it extra hard to come from off the pace.
