A big field but still not a competitive handicap, plenty just making up the numbers, and, as is often the case, it was a dual-purpose horse which came out on top, Junior making an immediate impact for David Pipe; things were surprisingly cleanly-run, the race a pretty fair reflection with the exception of the runner-up, who deserves marking up for coming from nearly last turning in, 4 of the first 5 in the front rank 3f out.
