The biggest field for this race since First Island was successful in '96 when the contest was still Group 2 and open to 3-y-o's, and it drew an international gathering, with runners from France, Germany and Ireland; however, in a strongly-run affair, which very much suited those held up, it was the Godolphin team who maintained their fine record, landing the spoils for a fourth time in as many seasons as Grandera produced a top-class display.
