showed much improved form to get off the mark, the first maiden to win this race since Sun Princess in 1983, the increased emphasis on stamina surely the main source of her improvement, this an excellent platform on which to build, with the Irish Oaks and, hopefully, the St Leger on the agenda, both races likely to show her to good effect; in touch, pushed along home turn, met some trouble briefly 3f out, led under 2f out, stayed on strongly final 1f, well on top finish; open to further improvement and shouldn't be underestimated.

was the clear form pick and she ran up to her best over this much longer trip, just outpointed by a strong stayer who was much improved for such a searching test; in touch, took keen hold, effort 4f out, led briefly 2f out, chased leader after, not quicken final 1f.

added to her family's tally of placed efforts at Epsom, her dam second to Snow Fairy in the Oaks and closely related to the Derby third Dylan Thomas, to a large extent backing up her improvement from last time, third best on the day, though perhaps likely to have finished a little closer had she come right the way over to the rail, seeming to have no problem with the longer trip; led after 1f, drew clear halfway, ridden straight, headed 2f out, not quicken.

had been well ridden when defeating the winner at Chester and didn't have the same advantage this time, back on softer ground too, though she wasn't far below that form; handy, effort straight, struggling when short of room around 2f out, one paced; she holds some fancy entries, the Munster Oaks and the Ribblesdale about the most realistic of them.

ran about as well as could have been expected upped in grade, just not able to find the improvement required to figure at this level; led 1f, chased leader after, ridden 4f out, chased leader early in straight, no extra over 1f out.

needed to improve to figure and never looked likely to get involved over this longer trip; dropped out, still plenty to do 4f out, plugged on straight, never on terms; she should stay (plenty of stamina on her dam's side) and may yet do better with her sights lowered.

wasn't in the same form as last time, that effort perhaps having taken a lot out of her, unable even to confirm placings with the third that day; held up, ridden over 4f out, laboured headway early in straight, no extra over 1f out.

An Oaks that had been widely written off as substandard even before it took place nevertheless delivered in just the sort of way it's supposed to, one emerging from a representative field of those that had run encouragingly in the trials to defeat the one with the best form, Forever Together's winning effort well up to standard for the race, a view supported by the time, and even if she wasn't quite Enable from 12 months previously, she has the potential to build from here; there were plenty of absentees, with a single-figure field for the second time in 3 years, notable among them the unbeaten Lah Ti Dar, the Saint-Alary winner Laurens, the Newbury scorer Sea of Class and 2 of the winner's stable companions, Magical, who's missed all her classic engagements so far, and Happily, though all of them would have had to improve to have beaten the winner; the race was run on soft ground for the fourth time this century, though the third time since 2013, the field coming centre to stands side, the first 2 among the 4 who came right over to the rail early in the straight, a well-run race bringing stamina very much to the fore, so often a feature of the tactics in an era of multiple Ballydoyle-Galileo participants, 4 of the 5 from that stable by the preeminent sire, only a daughter of Dubawi finishing in amongst them.

FOREVER TOGETHER (IRE) showed much improved form to get off the mark, the first maiden to win this race since Sun Princess in 1983, the increased emphasis on stamina surely the main source of her improvement, this an excellent platform on which to build, with the Irish Oaks and, hopefully, the St Leger on the agenda, both races likely to show her to good effect; in touch, pushed along home turn, met some trouble briefly 3f out, led under 2f out, stayed on strongly final 1f, well on top finish; open to further improvement and shouldn't be underestimated.
