clearly found massive improvement from her reappearance and caused a major upset, though there is no reason to doubt the performance from the run of the race, while this was just her second start at 1m, bumped when beginning her move when behind the runner-up in the May Hill; held up, travelled well, rapid headway 3f out, led 2f out, kept on final 1f, ridden out; this was her only fancy entry, so will need supplementing for the Coronation Stakes, for example, but she shouldn't be underestimated just because she was a big price here.

looks the type to do well at 3 yrs and ran a cracking first race of the campaign after 7 months off, excuses being made for her afterwards about the trip and the ground, though really none were needed; disputed lead, went on halfway, headed 2f out, stayed on; she is likely to be suited by further than 1m, the Prix de Diane an option next.

looked about the form pick on her win in the Lagardere and was well backed to give her trainer yet another classic, but she couldn't quite match that form, though she ran creditably after 6 months off, the trip looking on the short side now, the ground possibly also a factor; handy, not quicken over 2f out, hung right, kept on well inside final 1f; she will be well suited by further than 1m and while she's entered in everything and may well turn up in the Irish Guineas, she could yet be an Oaks filly.

well backed, looked in good nick and shaped encouragingly after 7 months off, running close to the level she showed when winning the Marcel Boussac; prominent, travelled well, every chance 2f out, not quicken final 1f; she should continue to be competitive in the best fillies races.

found a bit more improvement over a 1f longer trip, despite beginning her challenge closer to the stand side than the quartet who beat her; waited with, effort 3f out, stayed on after 2f out, edged right, not quicken inside final 1f; this is around her optimum trip in all likelihood, but she's a good sort physically and only 5 starts into her career, so there could be more to come.

had finished ahead of the winner and fifth in the Nell Gwyn, but wasn't able to quite match that form, a more patient ride looking to do her no favours; waited with, not settle fully, effort over 2f out, edged right, not quicken; she may yet do better, reverted to more forcing tactics.

lacked the experience for this task, running for the sponsors, and she did well in the circumstances after 5 months off over 2f longer trip; held up, ran green, still plenty to do 3f out, shaken up after, not quicken final 1f; she's entered in the Commonwealth Cup and Coronation Stakes, so she may continue to be overfaced, but she has the makings of a useful filly if sensibly campaigned.

An outcome to the first fillies classic that seemed as much of a shock to the trainer as it clearly was to everyone else, though there is no reason not to accept the result at face value, the winner unexposed at the trip and coping well with firmer ground, the result making plenty of sense otherwise, the pace a sound one, the form looking that of an average Guineas, a little below the most recent runnings, but on a par with plenty this century, including the stable's last winner of this race, Sky Lantern.

BILLESDON BROOK clearly found massive improvement from her reappearance and caused a major upset, though there is no reason to doubt the performance from the run of the race, while this was just her second start at 1m, bumped when beginning her move when behind the runner-up in the May Hill; held up, travelled well, rapid headway 3f out, led 2f out, kept on final 1f, ridden out; this was her only fancy entry, so will need supplementing for the Coronation Stakes, for example, but she shouldn't be underestimated just because she was a big price here.
