partnered by a far more experienced claimer than first 3 starts this year and belatedly proved he retains the useful level of ability he showed on sole 2014 start, taking advantage of a reduced mark in the process; close up, tanked along, led on bridle under 2f out, stayed on well; unlikely to get back to his best - clearly tricky to train in the past couple of years - but did this smoothly enough to suggest there was a bit more in the locker, so he should give another good account next time.

continues to thrive, putting up another career-best under a 6 lb penalty and only denied by a rejuvenated sort who has dropped in the weights, that one slightly better placed than him as well; mid-field, pushed along 2f out, stayed on; will remain of interest even after another small rise in the weights.

ran to similar level to last time with 7 lb claimer replacing fully-fledged rider, but this just underlines he's ideally suited by shorter trips; mid-division, headway over 1f out, effort flattened out final 1f; hard to win with even when conditions are ideal, though, so not one to be making too many excuses for.

managed to string together a couple of good efforts in a row for a change, coming from further back than ideal this time as well; held up, had to weave through, stayed on final 1f; already fully exposed, though, and current rating leaves no room for manoeuvre (never won off mark in the 90s).

back down in trip, turned in another respectable effort on the figures, but as with last time failed to convince with his application under pressure; close up, every chance 2f out, carried head awkwardly and not quicken; will remain vulnerable.

hinted at a revival back up in trip, this easily his most encouraging effort for current yard and also one that suggests he has a future at 7f (raced mainly at shorter); mid-field, shaken up 3f out, shuffled back by weakening rival over 1f out, kept on again final 1f; any further drop in the weights will see him down to a potentially attractive mark, so not to write off.

wasn't in quite the same form as last time, leaving the impression that this trip when the emphasis is on speed is on the sharp side nowadays; mid-division, ridden under 3f out, one paced until making some late headway; that said, a mark in the low 90s is probably beyond him in any case.

not for the first time followed a good run with a poor one, reverting to the prominent racing/weak-finishing ways that have been his downfall of late, this a season of underachievement on the whole; made running, driven over 2f out, headed over 1f out, weakened; potentially well treated if he can put it all together, but hard to know what to expect next time.

A handicap that's likely to prove solid rather than strong form, plenty of these quirky and/or handicapped to the hilt; that said, the first 2 are exceptions, the winner taking advantage of a dropping mark and the runner-up thriving, so they should remain of interest at least.

MAJESTIC MYLES (IRE) partnered by a far more experienced claimer than first 3 starts this year and belatedly proved he retains the useful level of ability he showed on sole 2014 start, taking advantage of a reduced mark in the process; close up, tanked along, led on bridle under 2f out, stayed on well; unlikely to get back to his best - clearly tricky to train in the past couple of years - but did this smoothly enough to suggest there was a bit more in the locker, so he should give another good account next time.
