RAJBA shaped well with a view to dropping back to this trip when sixth in a Newbury handicap (1m) 2 weeks ago and earns the vote back in maiden company. Gilding The Lily is a most interesting newcomer for John & Thady Gosden and market confidence behind her would look significant. Foxy Night is another with obvious form claims.

ANGEL'S SHARE finds herself 3 lb below the mark she defied when a wide-margin winner on all-weather last summer and, having posted easily her most encouraging effort this year at Yarmouth 23 days ago, she could be worth chancing to get back to winning ways. Kit Gabriel back at 7f from a handy mark and Southwell scorer Gunfighter are others high on the shortlist.

This should be run to suit HIGHLAND SHAH, who's fancied to resume winning ways over a longer trip. Improving Suggy is feared most, while India Gold's most recent form puts her right in the mix.

ROC DE FER has been typically well campaigned by Sir Mark Prescott, and he can follow up last week's success at Southwell. Jodhpur Blue could be the one to chase him home if back in the form he showed over the spring, with Much a likely improver on handicap bow.

AMERICAN STYLE has run well in some better contests from a higher mark and looks well treated to open his account for the season on the back of an encouraging recent effort. Course specialist King of Chaos heads the list of dangers from the consistent Papa Cocktail.

Analyst Verdict 1-2-3
The inaugural running of this marathon contest using stalls with VALIANCY making plenty of appeal. Successful on return at Hamilton, he very much caught the eye when sixth in the Copper Horse at Royal Ascot in June, keeping on well having been asked to come from a long way back (also widest of all). He earns the vote with potential for better still over this longer trip. Ascot Stakes second Defiantly and Highwind head a strong Irish challenge, whilst Believitanducan is another holding claims.

Ended last season on the up and picked up where he left off with stylish success at Hamilton (13f) in May. Came from a long way back (also widest of all) when an eye-catching sixth in Copper Horse at Royal Ascot (1¾m) since and he's most interesting up further in trip in refitted cheekpieces. Position Prediction: 1

Lightly-raced sort who easily bettered his 2 previous efforts this year in a change of headgear when going down narrowly to his stablemate in last month's Ascot Stakes (2½m), rallying once headed. Stamina clearly his strong suit and a repeat gives him solid claims from 4 lb higher. Position Prediction: 2

Hasn't stood much racing in recent seasons but confirmed his return to form when 4½ lengths fourth at Curragh (2m) in June, doing best of those ridden positively in a soundly-run race. That was an encouraging effort and he's an interesting contender for his all-conquering jumps yard. Position Prediction: 3
