couldn't be much more likeable and, freshened up since Punchestown (3m beyond him), wasted no time getting back on track, doing well to sustain the gallop as he did, his fluent hurdling setting him apart; disputed lead, jumped superbly, went with zest, went on before 4 out, threatened straight, held on gamely; he's got all the attributes to make a very smart 2m novice chaser.

is as good as ever at the minute, following back-to-back wins with a dogged second behind a decidedly smart rival; raced in clear third, chased leader from 4 out, pressed leader from 2 out, not quicken run-in, held late on.

back over hurdles on his first outing since leaving Paul Nicholls, showed a bit after 12 weeks off, presumably having a pipe-opener; patiently ridden, shaken up back straight, took third home turn, kept on gradually, no match for principals.

a winner on the Flat since last seen over jumps, still didn't have the chance the market suggested and paid for locking horns with the winner, shaping better than the distance beaten suggests; disputed lead until back straight, mistake 4 out, lost second, beaten approaching straight.

placed back from a long absence on the Flat in May, is best not judged on this low-key return to hurdling, disjointed race as it was; waited with, ridden after 3 out, made no impression.

The owner of the horse recognised in the title was responsible for 6 of the 8 contenders but still had to settle for minor placings behind a winner on a far more obvious upward curve than anything sporting the McManus silks, even Effernock Fizz pressing him at a brisk pace that saw 5 of them soon well back not enough to scupper him.
