had fallen off the radar since a stellar novice campaign, not seen since finishing last of 5 in the 2019 renewal of the Matheson, but things certainly clicked right back into place here, apparently not unexpectedly so given the weight of support behind him, a combination of the application of a hood, a markedly longer trip and an end-to-end gallop in his favour; travelling strongly in mid-division, he cruised into contention after 2 out, hitting the front early in the straight and in control when making a hash of the last, his only other error of any note coming at the third; providing all remains well with him, connections now have the choice of going down the novice chasing route (he was withdrawn from a maiden event in December) or remaining over timber, the latter option perhaps the more likely and he's already sharing favouritism with Thyme Hill for next March's Stayers' Hurdle.

showed a similar level of form upped in trip as on several occasions when trained in France, clearly all the better for his Champion Hurdle run starting out for Mullins; patiently ridden, rapid headway along inside after 2 out, forced to switch early in straight, went second last, no impression on winner; he's likely to go novice chasing now.

couldn't complete a hat-trick of Grade 1 victories, the writing on the wall even before the start, very much on his toes going to post and also the main culprit in the initial false start, then unable to get to the front until the second having been led-in, often jumping to his left and generally none too fluently, weakening quickly once headed 3 out and pulled up before the last; it is worth noting that his stable is going through a quiet spell at present, fellow Cheltenham Festival winner Vanillier well beaten here earlier in the week.

Whilst none of the 5 who had contested the Stayers' Hurdle 6 weeks earlier were involved in the finish, overexuberance at least part of the reason behind Cheltenham hero Flooring Porter's disappointing effort, this was still an up-to-scratch renewal, Klassical Dream justifying strong support stepping up considerably in trip on the back of a 16-month lay-off, gliding his way to the front as the trio that helped force a strong gallop came back to the field.

KLASSICAL DREAM (FR) had fallen off the radar since a stellar novice campaign, not seen since finishing last of 5 in the 2019 renewal of the Matheson, but things certainly clicked right back into place here, apparently not unexpectedly so given the weight of support behind him, a combination of the application of a hood, a markedly longer trip and an end-to-end gallop in his favour; travelling strongly in mid-division, he cruised into contention after 2 out, hitting the front early in the straight and in control when making a hash of the last, his only other error of any note coming at the third; providing all remains well with him, connections now have the choice of going down the novice chasing route (he was withdrawn from a maiden event in December) or remaining over timber, the latter option perhaps the more likely and he's already sharing favouritism with Thyme Hill for next March's Stayers' Hurdle.
