had excuses for both previous outings this season and, back down in trip, resumed progress to gain the fourth victory of his career, 3 of which have come over C&D; in touch, quickened to lead over 1f out, battled well; appeals as an obvious candidate for the Great St Wilfrid here later this month, a race in which last year's winner Spinatrix went on to finish second and will command plenty of respect in his bid to follow up.

raised 5 lb for his win at Pontefract, improved further, taking the return to 6f in his stride, only beaten by another who produced a career best; pressed leader, ridden over 1f out, every chance well inside final 1f, stuck to task; another rise in the weights is on the cards, but he should continue to give a good account.

again ran respectably to notch another placed effort; mid-division, headway over 1f out, kept on; is yet to win for his current stable, though he continues to knock at the door and is sure to find a race of this nature falling his way close to hand.

wasn't disgraced, this a better class of handicap than those he has been winning this season, though defying his latest rise is likely to require a further step forward; led, headed over 1f out, one paced.

backed at long odds in a change of headgear (without the blinkers this time), was strictly below form on first outing since leaving Roger Charlton after 7 weeks off, though did offer something for new connections to work on; waited with, shaken up 2f out, not knocked about, never on terms; looked comfortable on his first attempt at sprint trips and, although he has his quirks, he is one to keep an eye on, his yard having done well with similar types in the past.

A useful handicap; not many got involved on the day, but the finish was fought out by a pair who both posted improved performances and a positive view of the form is advised.

PIPERS NOTE had excuses for both previous outings this season and, back down in trip, resumed progress to gain the fourth victory of his career, 3 of which have come over C&D; in touch, quickened to lead over 1f out, battled well; appeals as an obvious candidate for the Great St Wilfrid here later this month, a race in which last year's winner Spinatrix went on to finish second and will command plenty of respect in his bid to follow up.
