As tends to be the case with sprints at this track, there was almost certainly an advantage of sorts in racing prominently, the first 3 pretty much occupying those positions throughout and the fourth faring much the best of those who tried to come from behind, though that's not to say the winner was necessarily flattered, having things in hand some way out and showing a smart level of form.

OUT DO without usual headgear, proved better than ever as he notched his second long-priced win in his last 3 starts, presumably catching his stable by surprise as he produced a smart effort, doing so in the style of one who could even do better still this time around, having this sewn up early in the straight; close up, travelled fluently, quickened to lead under 2f out, drew clear, won cosily.

BARKSTON ASH left previous efforts this season behind, which is quite encoraging given his yard isn't in much form, though equally he was soon well positioned the way this panned out; made running, headed under 2f out, kept on; he's well treated again on the pick of his 2014 form.

YEEOOW (IRE) turned in best effort of season as he finished third in this race for the second consecutive year, though it needs bearing in mind that he was well drawn and soon well positioned up with the pace, too; tracked pace, not quicken early in straight, stayed on.

MASS RALLY (IRE) failed to win last year but dropped a little in the weights as a result and shaped well after 6 months off, one to be interested in next time, maybe for the 6f handicap at York which he won in 2013; held up, headway early in straight, kept on well, nearest at the finish, caught further back than ideal and faring best of those who tried to come from off the pace.

SUPPLICANT was well backed after 6 months off, the sort his trainer might have been expected to do well with this year, but proved rather disappointing all things considered, his response to pressure in the straight nothing like so strong as might have been expected; mid-field, shaken up approaching straight, not quicken over 1f out.

MONEY TEAM (IRE) seems to be going through the motions at the minute, though at least his mark may start to fall a bit now; chased leaders, faded over 1f out.

SUNRAIDER (IRE) usually takes a few runs to find his form and starts this season from a prohibitive-looking mark after his wide-margin win here last back-end, anyway; waited with, never a threat.

LEXINGTON ABBEY failed to meet expectations, being forced to race on the flank not really sufficient excuse, though he's the sort to bounce back sonner rather than later, a consistent sort after all; mid-field, shaken up approaching straight, made no impression.

GO FAR back on turf, is struggling for form at present; steadied at the start, held up, shaken up approaching straight, made no impression.

FREE CODE (IRE) down in trip, was well held on first outing since leaving James Tate (for 50,000 gns) after 7 months off, his new connections probably on a fact-finding mission with him more than anything; held up, never a threat.

NO LEAF CLOVER (IRE) gelded since last seen, probably needed run after 8 months off, though it'd be stretching it to suggest he shaped with conspicuous promise even so; held up, brief headway early in straight, no extra final 1f, not given at all a hard time.
