Sprint handicaps tend not to have the same depth at this late stage of the year, but the competition at the business end here was still strong, good form amongst the principals; the action was always concentrated down the middle.

JAMAICAN BOLT (IRE) finally got it right, pulling out the extra he'd been threatening for a while, some credit due to William Buick for evoking it, as he didn't let Jamaican Bolt think twice about it this time, forcing him ahead late on.

ECCLESTON hasn't pressed on again this autumn, but he has youth - and O'Meara - on his side, and he's hardly gone backwards, just lacking some zip again here, even back up in trip with cheekpieces on, never nearer.

ENGLISHMAN 6 lb rise for Haydock arguably less of an issue than his resolve, but possible he was feeling the effects only a week on, either way unable to sustain his effort.
