without a tongue strap this time, followed up his maiden success in gritty fashion, paying another compliment to Sir Gerhard in so doing; never far away, upsides early in straight, edged ahead final 100 yds, always just holding on.

who'd missed the winter after making a successful hurdling/stable debut in late-November, shaped very well in the face of quite a stiff task; patiently ridden, smooth headway on inner 2 out, upsides between last 2, edged out final 100 yds but stuck on and made the winner pull out more; will go on improving.

clearly isn't the easiest to train and looked rusty after a further 10 months off; in rear, shaken up home turn, untidy last, never landed a blow, not unduly punished; remains capable of better (her best form has come in the spring).

A couple set quite a high standard in this Grade 3 and, though neither managed to fully repeat the form of their previous runs, it still looks a race to view in a fairly positive light; the pace was steady before the leader pressed on in the back straight.
