has made a promising start, a big eye-catcher at Haydock 3 weeks earlier and building on that to open his account with little fuss, value for more than the winning margin as he did only what was required; prominent, travelled strongly, went on approaching 2f out, in command final 1f, kept up to work; he has scope for plenty of improvement, including at 1½m, and is one to keep on the right side of.

was strong in the betting and showed improved form, a positive ride seeming to suit him for all that he wasn't a match for the potentially smart winner; led, headed approaching 2f out, kept on and seemed to give his all; he's up to winning a novice and an opening mark of 81 looks fair for handicaps.

shaped well up in trip after 8 months off and has made an encouraging start, sure to find this aiding his development; chased leaders, shaken up 3f out, switched approaching final 1f, kept on well late on without being not knocked about; will be suited by 1½m and remains capable of better.

Plenty of promising types in the novice, which was run in a faster time than the second division that followed, and it should be a race that produces winners/improvers.

MATTHEW FLINDERS has made a promising start, a big eye-catcher at Haydock 3 weeks earlier and building on that to open his account with little fuss, value for more than the winning margin as he did only what was required; prominent, travelled strongly, went on approaching 2f out, in command final 1f, kept up to work; he has scope for plenty of improvement, including at 1½m, and is one to keep on the right side of.
