confirmed himself a most progressive young stayer back at 2m, coming from what looked a most unlikely position turning in to land this valuable pot with a smart effort, doing very well to collar an in-form pair that had got first run; dwelt, raced well off the pace, still plenty to do entering straight, headway when had to pick way through from 2f out, found plenty to lead final strides; he's open to further improvement and rates an exciting prospect for staying contests as a 4yo.

A renewal that was every bit as competitive as one would expect for the prize money on offer and hard to imagine it proving to be anything but strong form, a progressive 3yo coming clear with a pair that had both shaped well at Galway, no shortage of promise from some interesting types a little further back in the field, either.

WATERVILLE (IRE) confirmed himself a most progressive young stayer back at 2m, coming from what looked a most unlikely position turning in to land this valuable pot with a smart effort, doing very well to collar an in-form pair that had got first run; dwelt, raced well off the pace, still plenty to do entering straight, headway when had to pick way through from 2f out, found plenty to lead final strides; he's open to further improvement and rates an exciting prospect for staying contests as a 4yo.

ECHOES IN RAIN (FR) had predictably been hit hard for her Galway win, but improved again to go close off a 10 lb higher mark, going down only to a most progressive 3yo; mid-field, headway entering straight, switched 2f out, stayed on to lead final 1f, collared dying strides; she'll continue to pay her way in handicaps or pattern company.

LOT OF JOY (IRE) again shaped well, unable to reverse Galway form with her stablemate, but still one to be interested in for similar events, hardly looking short on speed for a stayer; mid-field, travelled fluently, good headway out wide entering straight, produced to lead under 2f out, headed final 1f, no extra.

RULING (GER) shaped well pitched in at the deep end for handicap bow, the ease in which he moved into contention suggesting that defying this sort of mark wont be beyond him, just not so convincing at this trip as the trio he chased home; mid-field, travelled as well as any, good headway from 3f out, going well when switched 2f out, every chance approaching final 1f, faded close home.

FALCON EIGHT (IRE) ran up to best returned to handicap company, coming from a similar position as the winner turning for home; in rear, still plenty to do over 3f out, headway on inner 2f out, keeping on when not clear run approaching final 1f, finished well.

CLEVELAND (IRE) again ran well, still doing his best work at the death even back up in trip; mid-field, progress out wide from home turn, ran on, never nearer.

TAIPAN (FR) shaped as if still in good form, proving himself effective over this far at the second attempt; handy, driven home turn, carried head bit awkwardly approaching final 1f, plugged on.

MIGHTY BLUE (FR) ran up to best with an excellent claimer taking over, still pretty unexposed as a stayer and not one to give up on from this mark; mid-field, shuffled back approaching straight, ridden when hampered 2f out, stayed on well.

BENAUD (IRE) ran creditably and might well have finished a little closer given a clear passage; waited with, smooth progress early in straight, not clear run over 2f out, switched soon after, one paced.

POWERFUL AGGIE (FR) in first-time cheekpieces, is back down to a mark she was competitive from last season and took a step in the right direction; held up, headway under pressure around 3f out, kept on.

MASTER OF REALITY (IRE) ran to a similar level to last time; held up, pushed along over 3f out, ran on, never a threat.

CALLING THE WIND (IRE) back in headgear, is merely ticking over at present; tracked pace, ridden when hampered 2f out, faded final 1f.

WORDSWORTH (IRE) after 3 months off, was given a considerate return from a break, much more patiently ridden than usual and still last of all turning for home; dropped out, still plenty to do home turn, plugged on out wide from 2f out, never better than mid-field.

INUIT (FR) failed to progress upped in trip, albeit not enjoying the cleanest of passages; headway 3f out, ridden when bumped 2f out, weakened final 1f.

YAXENI (FR) couldn't dominate back in handicap company and ran below form; led, headed after 2f, led again 3f out, dropped away final 1f.

SHANROE shaped similarly to last time; held up, driven 4f out, never better than mid-field.

WHISKEY SOUR (IRE) best not judged on this run; mid-field, hampered early, effort soon after home turn, made little impression.

EARL OF TYRONE (IRE) upped in trip, underperformed again; mid-field, effort 3f out, made little impression; seems best on less testing ground.

HMS SEAHORSE (IRE) was below form over hurdles when last seen and failed to build on the promise of last Flat run upped markedly in trip; mid-field, driven 3f out, beaten before final 1f.

FRENCH CLAIM (FR) upped in trip, has been handed a stiff-looking mark; close up, led after 2f, headed 3f out, soon beaten.

OKITA SOUSHI (IRE) has gone off the boil; held up, never landed a blow.

PHOENIX COWBOY (USA) wasn't in the same form as last time; held up, brief headway home turn, beaten 2f out.

JERANDME (IRE) found run of good form coming to a halt; handy, driven 4f out, weakening when hampered 2f out, dropped away soon after.

MAZE RUNNER (IRE) followed a good run with a below-par one; mid-field, weakened over 2f out.

AZALLYA (IRE) upped markedly in trip, failed to come on for recent run; raced wide, held up, never dangerous.

MERROIR (IRE) ran one of lesser races; patiently ridden, never a threat.

TAX FOR MAX (GER) upped in trip, ran poorly making handicap debut; always behind.

GOLDEN FLAME (IRE) again ran below form; prominent, dropped away early in straight.

DAME RAPIDE (IRE) again showed little; prominent, pushed along home turn, beaten soon after.

CLASSIC LORD (GER) went backwards from reappearance; mid-field, off the bridle long way out, dropped away early in straight.
