after 8 months off, proved at least as good as ever in recording his fifth win over fences and first in graded company; made all, mistake third, pressed on before 3 out, in command between last 2, driven out; a fine servant to connections, he will presumably continue to mix it between hurdles and fences.

fourth in the Champion Hurdle when last seen in March, seemed stretched by the trip on bad ground, although a possible lack of peak fitness and a couple of late mistakes were other factors; chased leader, not fluent third, mistakes 4 out and 3 out, ridden entering straight, one paced; the Hilly Way Chase at Cork next month, a race he won last year, is reportedly next on his agenda.

This didn't look a particularly strong renewal of this Grade 2 beforehand and it proved to be a wholly uncompetitive one, the order never changing from flagfall, Bachasson seeing things out better than his odds-on stable companion.
