bounced back to form in a less-competitive affair than he's used to, finding the test just sharp enough; steadied at the start, patiently ridden, headway when short of room over 1f out, switched inside final 1f, ran on; he's a long time without a win but would be worth a place on the shortlist in a similar event over further next time.

shaped encouragingly after 9 months off and will be one to keep on side this autumn, well proven in testing conditions and clearly likely to be fresher than most he'll meet, the November Handicap at Doncaster (fifth in the race last year) a possible target; prominent, travelled as well as any, led over 1f out, headed inside final 1f, faded.

What's The Story met with a sad end but there was little to separate the other 7 at the climax of a modestly-run affair, the form probably fairly ordinary for the grade.

THUNDERING has fallen a fair way in the weights and finally took advantage, quickening to good effect to edge a bunched finish; mid-division, took keen hold, headway from 2f out, led inside final 1f, kept on.

EUCHEN GLEN bounced back to form in a less-competitive affair than he's used to, finding the test just sharp enough; steadied at the start, patiently ridden, headway when short of room over 1f out, switched inside final 1f, ran on; he's a long time without a win but would be worth a place on the shortlist in a similar event over further next time.

PAINTERS PALETTE (IRE) continues in good heart with tapeta and turf seemingly coming alike to him, doing well to pose such a strong challenge having come from off the pace; held up, headway 2f out, every chance approaching final 1f, kept on.

AUSTRIAN THEORY (IRE) wasted no time getting back to form, having every chance back up in trip; prominent, challenged over 1f out, one paced.

COCKALORUM (IRE) ran at least as well as when winning the time before but was unable to land back-to-back successes for the third time in his career; led, headed over 1f out, no extra final 50 yds.

MR ALAN shaped encouragingly after 9 months off and will be one to keep on side this autumn, well proven in testing conditions and clearly likely to be fresher than most he'll meet, the November Handicap at Doncaster (fifth in the race last year) a possible target; prominent, travelled as well as any, led over 1f out, headed inside final 1f, faded.
