has been on a steady upward trajectory for the last couple of seasons and proved better than ever to give her trainer a much-needed winner and make her fourth crack at a listed race a successful one, doing it the hard way from off the pace in a steadily-run race; raced off the pace, effort over 3f out, stayed on to lead late on; this wasn't a strong contest for the grade and she'll probably prove vulnerable under a penalty for this in something similar.

had looked flattered to finish third in this grade at Kempton in March but proved herself here, running to a similar level, like the winner a filly who has progressed right through the handicap ranks; prominent, travelled well, led 1f out, no extra late on.

had excuses on her most recent start and wasted no time getting back on track, a notch or so below her very best under a 3 lb penalty despite having the run of things; dictated, challenged 2f out, headed 1f out, not quicken.

easy to back, wasn't disgraced after 7 months off on much faster ground than she'd been thriving on towards the end of last season, not ideally placed either, hopes of her bagging a race at this level not dashed yet; held up, pushed along over 3f out, forced to switch inside 1f out, never nearer.

had shaped with promise at Goodwood on her reappearance but there were less positives to be take from this, perhaps just lacking the speed to deal with the drop in trip; in touch, pushed along over 2f out, one paced; will be suited by a return to 1½m+.

after 8 weeks off, hadn't achieved much in 2 bumper starts but seemed to do a lot better pitched in deep for her Flat debut; in touch, pushed along home turn, no extra over 1f out; time will tell if this result flatters her.

The standard-setting favourite was a bit below her best and this was fought out between a pair of high-end - though steadily progressive - handicappers, unlikely to make for strong listed form as a result, though the winner did do well to make up the ground she did off a steady gallop.

EURO NIGHTMARE (IRE) has been on a steady upward trajectory for the last couple of seasons and proved better than ever to give her trainer a much-needed winner and make her fourth crack at a listed race a successful one, doing it the hard way from off the pace in a steadily-run race; raced off the pace, effort over 3f out, stayed on to lead late on; this wasn't a strong contest for the grade and she'll probably prove vulnerable under a penalty for this in something similar.
