with a fully-fledged rider back in the saddle, went one better than last time as he ended a long losing run back under more familiar tactics, just about better than ever in the process, no mean feat as an 8-y-o; made all, travelled strongly, shaken up over 2f out, ridden out; recent strike rate tempers enthusiasm of a follow up.

bounced back to the pick of her juvenile form having edged down the weights; chased leader, travelled better than most, every chance over 2f out, kept on, no impression on winner; should remain competitive now that she's proven that she's trained on.

after 7 weeks off, shaped as if still in good form, seeming unsuited by the drop in trip; awkward leaving stalls, raced off the pace, headway over 1f out, kept on, never nearer; will benefit from return to 1¼m and will remain of interest, yet to run a bad race this year.

wasn't in the same form as last time, perhaps not so well suited to this softer ground; dwelt, raced wide, mid-field, pushed along 3f out, one paced.

A weakish handicap for the grade, and one lacking in progressive sorts, though in its context the result looks solid enough, Jay Kay making all.

JAY KAY with a fully-fledged rider back in the saddle, went one better than last time as he ended a long losing run back under more familiar tactics, just about better than ever in the process, no mean feat as an 8-y-o; made all, travelled strongly, shaken up over 2f out, ridden out; recent strike rate tempers enthusiasm of a follow up.

CLEF bounced back to the pick of her juvenile form having edged down the weights; chased leader, travelled better than most, every chance over 2f out, kept on, no impression on winner; should remain competitive now that she's proven that she's trained on.

ROYAL REGENT after 7 weeks off, shaped as if still in good form, seeming unsuited by the drop in trip; awkward leaving stalls, raced off the pace, headway over 1f out, kept on, never nearer; will benefit from return to 1¼m and will remain of interest, yet to run a bad race this year.

BAMBER BRIDGE (IRE) wasn't in the same form as last time, perhaps not so well suited to this softer ground; dwelt, raced wide, mid-field, pushed along 3f out, one paced.

CE LA VIE looked rusty after 5 months off, though needs some respite from the handicapper in any case; raced off the pace, off the bridle before most, made no impression.

FINN CLASS (IRE) after just 4 days off and in first-time blinkers and tongue strap, is operating below best at present; mid-division, weakened under 2f out.

STRONG STEPS followed a below-par effort with an even worse one; mid-field, weakened 2f out.
