had shaped well in a better race (one that is working out) on his return and duly built on that, ultimately scoring with plenty to spare, the way he cruised up after coming back on the bridle into the straight pretty impressive; soon steadied, mistake fourth, coaxed along approaching 3 out, back on bridle and closed rapidly approaching next, led soon after last, quickened clear, well on top finish; he's sure to progress again, with the valuable 2m handicap here next month the obvious next step.

in first-time tongue strap, looked on a stiff enough mark for her handicap debut and ran her best race, having the run of things, but beating all bar the unexposed winner in convincing fashion; led, jumped fluently, went with zest, pressed on home turn, shaken up 2 out, headed soon after last.

ran respectably in first-time cheekpieces, faring a lot better than he had behind the winner on his reappearance, though with no excuses, better placed than most; handy, chased leader 3 out, shaken up early in straight, one paced.

after 5 months off, backed up his useful effort in the Betfair Hurdle when last seen over jumps, though never competitive before making late gains, perhaps worth a try over further; held up, pushed along before 3 out, plenty to do early in straight, kept on well approaching last, nearest at the finish.

who won this race in 2016, is presumably working his way up to full fitness for a run in 'his' race at Kempton on 27th December, placed in that for the last 3 seasons, winning it once, shaping better here than on a recent spin on the Flat and likely to be sharper again next time; in rear, headway 3 out, no extra approaching last, never on terms.

A lop-sided market, quite a few hard to fancy, the favourite, by contrast, looking to have a lot going for him and proving it with a clear-cut success.

BUZZ (FR) had shaped well in a better race (one that is working out) on his return and duly built on that, ultimately scoring with plenty to spare, the way he cruised up after coming back on the bridle into the straight pretty impressive; soon steadied, mistake fourth, coaxed along approaching 3 out, back on bridle and closed rapidly approaching next, led soon after last, quickened clear, well on top finish; he's sure to progress again, with the valuable 2m handicap here next month the obvious next step.
