Timeform highlight three horses who shaped well at Glorious Goodwood and earned the Horse In Focus Flag.
Amazing Journey (Timeform rating: 81p)
Fifth, 7f nursery, Goodwood, Thursday 31 July
This is one of the most valuable nurseries in the calendar which should prove solid form, and a few caught the eye behind the winner, notably the Jamie Osborne-trained Amazing Journey. He arrived in top form having won his previous two starts, including a competitive nursery at York, and he left the impression he should have finishing closer. Amazing Journey sweated up beforehand and encountered softer ground for the first time, but was denied a run around two furlongs out before staying on well to the line. He's clearly on an upward curve and is well worth another chance to prove himself on a good mark. Jamie Osborne
Sixth, King George Stakes, Goodwood, Friday 1 August
That the current crop of British and Irish-trained sprinters are all much of a muchness has been clear for most of the season, the King George following the King Charles III in being won by a horse who'd landed a big handicap on his penultimate start, and the form is just around average for the grade. However, one horse who again caught the eye was Night Raider, who was back down in trip, and shaped quite a bit better than the bare result, just like at Royal Ascot the time before, displaying plenty of speed, but racing on the wrong side of the track. He typically went with plenty of verve, headed approaching the final furlong and then left behind by the far-side group. Night Raider has been better than the bare result on all four starts this year and will be no forlorn hope if everything comes together in the Nunthorpe at York later this month. Karl Burke
Third, Stewards' Cup, Goodwood, Saturday 2 August
With pace on both sides of the track, the field split into two pretty even groups, those in stalls 1-14 going towards the far side with stalls 15-28 coming up the near rail, the high draws having a small, but clear advantage as they provided the first four home. The Robert Cowell-trained Jakajaro caught the eye somewhat in third position, turning in his best effort of the season without being seen to best effect for the second time in a week. He didn't really get a chance to open up fully, his rider unable to go for everything due to some traffic problems, staying on well under a hands-and-heels ride in the closing stages. Jakajaro is shaping up well and can prove himself a well-handicapped horse when everything falls right. Robert Cowell
