Perfect News - 14:25 Newmarket
Smart Stat: 22% - William Haggas' strike rate with horses running in races between 7f and up to 10f
Perfect News showed improved form to resume winning ways on her nursery debut over this course and distance two weeks ago, proving well suited by the step up in trip as she stayed on strongly to get the verdict by a neck. That form sets the standard in this Group 3 and it's not out of the question that she may yet have more to offer after only four starts. Therefore, she rates a very solid option for William Haggas, who continues in top form with 19 winners in the last 14 days.
Selby's Pride - 14:40 York
Smart Stat: 2 - Tony Coyle's number of winners in past 10 runnings
Selby's Pride produced a career-best effort to get off the mark at Ripon last time, hitting the front over a furlong out and quickly forging clear to land the spoils by three lengths. That was a fair performance and she remains open to further progress if handling the softer going here (raced mostly on good to firm). She also has a penalty to contend with but remains one to be interested in for Tony Coyle, who is seeking his third success in this novice event since 2013.
Siskany - 16:10 Newmarket
Smart Stat: 29% - Charlie Appleby's strike rate at Newmarket (Rowley) since the start of the 2017 season
Smart Stat: 22% - William Buick's strike rate at Newmarket (Rowley)
Siskany has finished in the frame in a couple of strong three-year-old handicaps on his last two starts, including when filling the runner-up spot on his latest outing at Goodwood in July. He was beaten just three quarters of a length on that occasion and the first two pulled a little way clear of the rest. Gelded during his subsequent absence, Siskany remains potentially well treated from a BHA mark of 103 and he is fancied to become another winner at Newmarket for Charlie Appleby and William Buick, both of whom have enjoyed plenty of success at this track in recent seasons.
