has had a light campaign but returned to the form he was showing prior to his final-fence departure in last year's Arkle and, although a rise back up the weights beckons, he won't be a forlorn hope if turning up in the Red Rum at Aintree in a fortnight's time; in touch, jumped on seventh, kicked on leaving home turn, joined briefly run-in, forged clear for pressure and well on top by the line.

ran creditably on form but didn't carry much of a win threat this time; dropped out, some headway back straight, not fluent 4 out, plugged on to take third close home.

failed to meet expectations after 9 weeks off, that absence possibly a factor after he'd raced a bit with the choke out early - all in all, he's worth another chance off this sort of mark; waited with, took keen hold, good progress entering back straight, went second briefly home turn, weakened from 2 out (not fluent there), lost third close home.

A good-quality 2m handicap by midweek standards and, although outsiders were placed, it appeals as form to view positively for now; the pace was good.
