was plainly unlucky not to finish a good bit closer, but that's a common thread with him and, for all he did win at Redcar at the start of the month, this is the ninth time he's been turned over at 11/2 or shorter in the past 12 months; slowly into stride, raced off the pace, not clear run under 3f out, no room from 2f out, shuffled back, not recover.

might have needed the run on first outing since leaving Tom Clover after 9 months off, also seeming to get a bit unbalanced, and his next run should reveal more; held up, stumbled slightly under 3f out, dropped away soon after, not persevered with once held.

This didn't look a particularly strong race for the grade beforehand and there's little in the result to alter that view, acknowledging the winner had fallen to a handy mark and the runner-up has largely been in good form for a while, that he was one of a few who met trouble only adding to the slightly muddling feel of a race that was at least soundly run.

TITIAN (IRE) took advantage of a drop in the weights, this the first time this year he's been over a trip at which his last 2 wins have come; mid-division on outer, chased leaders over 3f out, edged right 2f out, upsides 1f out, edged ahead dying strides.
