freshened up since Ascot and with a tongue strap on for the first time, bounced right back to the pick of his juvenile form to capitalise on the drop in grade; waited with, going well when had to wait for gap over 1f out, forced to switch, stayed on to lead final strides; the Boomerang Stakes back here on Champions weekend appeals as an obvious target.

is running consistently well and would probably have picked up his third victory of the campaign had he not hung across the track in the straight; made running, went clear over 1f out, hung badly right, collared dying strides.

back down in trip, proved a let-down for no obvious reason (reportedly found to be post race normal after veterinary examination); chased leaders, met some trouble around halfway, driven entering straight, effort flattened out; is better than this and well worth another chance.

A strong renewal of this Group 3, the field a mix of established performers at this level and a trio from the classic generation, one from the latter group coming out on top, although the result may well have been different if Ancient Spirit had kept straight; it was truly-run.

ROYAL DORNOCH (IRE) freshened up since Ascot and with a tongue strap on for the first time, bounced right back to the pick of his juvenile form to capitalise on the drop in grade; waited with, going well when had to wait for gap over 1f out, forced to switch, stayed on to lead final strides; the Boomerang Stakes back here on Champions weekend appeals as an obvious target.

ANCIENT SPIRIT (GER) is running consistently well and would probably have picked up his third victory of the campaign had he not hung across the track in the straight; made running, went clear over 1f out, hung badly right, collared dying strides.

BOWERMAN back down in trip, wasted no time getting back to form; waited with, came wide straight, kept on, nearest at the finish.

TRAIS FLUORS ran respectably again; tracked pace, travelled better than most, second early in straight, not quicken.

ETNEYA (IRE) asked a big question for one so inexperienced, acquitted herself quite well in the circumstances; tracked pace, raced freely, pushed along 3f out, one paced; remains open to improvement.

FISCAL RULES (IRE) back down in trip, proved a let-down for no obvious reason (reportedly found to be post race normal after veterinary examination); chased leaders, met some trouble around halfway, driven entering straight, effort flattened out; is better than this and well worth another chance.

NEBO (IRE) followed a below-par effort with an even worse one, but is no longer of much interest at this sort of level; always behind.
