MOONLIGHT MAGIC well positioned the way things developed, ended a losing run that stretched back to the Derrinstown Derby Trial last year, showing a willing attitude to take advantage of a slightly below-par effort from the runner-up; tracked pace, effort 2f out, stayed on to lead near line; has now won 3 times at this track and will reportedly come back here for another tilt at the Irish Champion Stakes in September.

DEAUVILLE (IRE) back up in trip and without the headgear this time, failed to capitalise on the drop in grade, but did nothing wrong, only giving best late on to one who was in receipt on 3 lb; made running, edged ahead under 2f out, collared dying strides; is reportedly being aimed at the Arlington Million, a race he finished a close third in last year.

TENNESSEE WILDCAT (IRE) not quite up to this level, ran about as well as could have been expected; dropped out, travelled as well as any, kept on, took third close home, kept on.

BRENDAN BRACKAN (IRE) a Group 3 winner as a 4-y-o, has regularly been found wanting at this level since and it was a similar story here; mid-division, ridden entering straight, third 1f out, no extra.

THE GREY GATSBY (IRE) back at this scene of one of his finest hours and in first-time visor, went backwards from reappearance, not helped by the rain that fell but is clearly not the force of old; held up, headway entering straight, found little, not unduly punished; something to prove at present.
