There was next to no depth to this race, but even that shouldn't detract from the performance of Jay Are, who is heading in the right direction at a rate of knots; All But Grey set an even pace.

JAY ARE (IRE) stood out on the form of his last win, not to mention looking well-in under a 7-lb penalty, and duly followed up with loads in hand; waited with, travelled well, crept closer from eighth, went on approaching 4 out, drew clear from next and won easily; bound to go up a chunk for these last 2 wins, but he holds a couple of entries in the coming days and would be of obvious interest if taking up one of those engagements.

JUST SPOT modest maiden over hurdles, couldn't even run to that level sent chasing; in rear, off the bridle long way out, plodded on but merely passed beaten horses.

THATS YER MAN (IRE) looked limited over hurdles but at least showed a bit making chasing debut, possibly short of peak fitness after a 12-week break; mid-division, travelled better than most, mistake first, challenged home turn, led briefly entering straight but brushed aside soon after and tied up late on; may do better.

ALL BUT GREY was well held, and whilst it remains to be seen if his chasing debut form flatters him or not, there's a chance that this longer trip was an issue; led, went with enthusiasm, tackled home turn, headed entering straight, found little.

JUDGE DAVIS fared little better after 9 weeks off and has something prove after a couple of disappointing efforts; tracked pace, not fluent fourth, ridden between 5 out and 4 out, weakened.

DROPZONE (USA) after 13 weeks off, again ran poorly; in rear, went with little fluency (reminders after sixth) and always behind.

UPTON WOOD was in much calmer waters than on chasing debut and had the aid of first-time cheekpieces but fared no better; prominent, driven after seventh, weakened from ninth.

NORTH LONDON poor over hurdles, didn't appear to take to chasing; soon detached, jumped ponderously and never travelling well, pulled up after 4 out.

TRESOR DE LA VIE (FR) ran a typical race, not one to make excuses for even if he was reappearing from a 3-month break; handy, not fluent 5 out, folded tamely soon after, pulled up before next.

HEAD SPIN (IRE) fared no better than last time; raced along inside, in rear, reminders third, went prominent fifth, weakened from eighth, pulled up before 4 out.
