Plenty of potential in this field, all but one having won a race before and a couple having been placed in pattern company already, with 4 of the 7 entered in the Derby, but a few either weren't ready or didn't look at home on the track, neither of which could be levelled at a winner who promises to be even better over further.

SEA SCOUT (IRE) caused a surprise on his turf bow after 5 months off but, while he handled the track better than the runner-up, this didn't seem a fluke, for all the level is a long way short of what will be required here in 6½ weeks; soon pressed leader, edged ahead 1f out, kept on gamely; he's in the Dante and that's likely to prove a better guide to his classic prospects, but he's open to further improvement, and will be suited by 1½m.

TRINITY COLLEGE (IRE) who got very warm beforehand, matched previous form upped slightly in trip without handling the track as well as the winner; waited with, headway when hung left under 2f out, continued to lug left final 1f, ran on, pulled clear of rest.

MIRABEAU was easy to back tackling firmer ground than previously after 6 months off, but took a step forward over this 3f longer trip; broke well but soon steadied and dropped out, met some trouble under 3f out, stayed on, took third final strides; he's probably got more to offer this year, though placing him from a mark of 100 mightn't be that easy (options on the continent perhaps worth exploring).

TIBERIUS THUNDER (IRE) couldn't quite match the form he'd shown when finishing a place better in the Ballysax, this trickier track seeming to find him out; led, wandered over 1f out, headed soon after, wandered again last ½f, lost third final strides; remains capable of better back on a more conventional course.

PRINCE OF THE SEAS (IRE) whose Sandown maiden win 7 months earlier has worked out well (last week's Feilden winner back in fourth), probably has as much potential as any of these and that remains the case after this, taking a while to get to grips with the track and likely to come on for this in any case; patiently ridden, hung left over 1f out, kept on gradually, not unduly punished; he's a good mover who should be suited by this sort of ground, will stay 1½m and remains with potential.

DEVIL'S ADVOCATE was pretty disappointing in truth pitched into a classic trial for a stable that won 2 of them last week, possibly needing the run more than expected (well backed) after 6 months off, and this track perhaps not ideal, either, so he's worth another chance; in touch, not quicken 2f out, edged left, not persevered with once held; should still improve.

THE CURSOR is certainly promising, but was the only one of these not to have won a race and found it tough going in this company, at least over this C&D; settled in touch, outpaced 2f out, held when edged left 1f out, not knocked about; remains capable of better, and there's a decent 1½m handicap with his name on it this year.
