An above-average winner of this Group-3 prize, Home of The Brave making all to score in authoritative fashion, that the thing to focus on for all the form can be knocked - few landing a blow in behind, the contest as good as over when he kicked inside the final 3f, his victory capping a tremendous weekend for his handler Hugo Palmer.

HOME OF THE BRAVE (IRE) acquitted himself well when sixth in both the 2000 Guineas and Commonwealth Cup, but took his form up a notch with this resounding success, allowed to dominate admittedly, but essentially looking a cut above this grade; went slightly left leaving the stalls but was soon bowling along in front, went through the gears from halfway, the race in safe keeping approaching the final 1f; such tactics won’t be as easy to pull off back against the very best and he will need further progress to feature significantly, but he certainly deserves another crack, particularly over this trip - now 2-2 over 7f and remaining with untapped potential at the distance.

GORDON LORD BYRON (IRE) emerges with credit, coming out of the pack to chase home an improving 3-y-o, conceding first run, Home of The Brave away and gone by the time he found his stride, though left the impression he wasn't quite at the peak of his powers for whatever reason - noted being given a slap down the neck at halfway, it testament to him that he kept responding to the line; mid-division, headway under 3f out, kept on, no impression on winner.

SOVEREIGN DEBT (IRE) is enjoying a fine year, that run continuing here, fully expected to remain competitive at this sort of level, though last month's listed win did pretty much see him to maximum effect; in touch, effort over 2f out, kept on.

DARK EMERALD (IRE) wasn't disgraced, but again fell quite comfortably short of replicating his much improved Dubai form and may not be the easiest to place close to hand; bumped start, chased leader, ridden over 2f out, one paced.

RAMONE (IRE) after 9 weeks off, shaped as if still in good form, moving sweetly for a long way, but couldn't pick up as instantly as required, meeting interference as a result, likely to have been better served by her rider asking for her effort sooner; prominent, travelled as well as any, shaken up under 2f out, short of room soon after, not quicken.

FLIGHT RISK (IRE) wasn't on his game, a penalty for his shock win in the Gladness making life difficult for him in this type of event in any case; dwelt, held up, took strong hold, ridden 3f out, made no impression.

RAPID APPLAUSE 's truncated campaign hasn't got off the ground, returning from a further 4 months off here, finishing well held, his next outing hopefully going to reveal more, certainly having a bit to prove at present; waited with, pushed along over 2f out, made no impression.

EASTERN RULES (IRE) is best not judged on this display, poorly placed and running into difficulties as the winner was striking for home; bumped start, in rear, ridden over 2f out, met some trouble over 1f out, never on terms.

SHEPHERD'S PURSE back down in trip, was well below form in the face of a stiff task; took strong hold and soon steadied, dropped away approaching final 1f.
