didn't need to improve to land his third race of the season already, though he was fortunate on the day, his old stable-companion better placed (Alelchi Inois ridden more patiently than usual despite drop in trip) and looking set to take full advantage when crashing out late; in touch, shaken up entering straight, effort approaching 2 out, keeping on when left in front last, driven clear.

was let down by his jumping yet again, his work cut out following a shuddering mistake at the fourth, not well placed as the race was developing before the straight and unable to land a blow, though he was doing some good late work to highlight his well-being, running left at the end.

shaped as if retaining all his ability after 7 months off, ridden more patiently than probably suits trying this sort of trip for the first time in over 2 years; waited with, steady headway end of back straight, pushed along home turn, no further impression.

suffered his most agonising reverse yet, rather than finding one too good this time coming down at the last with the race at his mercy, having travelled powerfully and not put a foot wrong prior to that, all in all looking an improved model second time back from a break; this pays an even greater compliment to Sub Lieutenant, a chaser going places for a new yard.
handy, led entering straight, drew clear soon after 2 out, in control when fell last

The prestige of this race has risen in recent seasons, and it would have had another representative winner had Outlander not crashed out while opening a 4-length lead at the last, opening the door for a former stablemate who'd been asked to come from slightly further back, jumping the undoing of the other market principal, too.

ALELCHI INOIS (FR) didn't need to improve to land his third race of the season already, though he was fortunate on the day, his old stable-companion better placed (Alelchi Inois ridden more patiently than usual despite drop in trip) and looking set to take full advantage when crashing out late; in touch, shaken up entering straight, effort approaching 2 out, keeping on when left in front last, driven clear.
