under a penalty, confirmed return to form, adding further lustre to his course record, but again didn't really convince with how he went about things; in rear, off the bridle long way out, carried head awkwardly straight, ran on late, never nearer.

Three last-time-out winners pulled clear in this handicap, suggesting this is solid form in spite of the worsening conditions, the field coming stand side in the straight.

POET'S DAWN proved at least as good as ever to follow up C&D success from last month; disputed lead, went on halfway, kicked on 3f out, idled over 1f out, always holding on; he'll probably be up to a career-high mark next time, though, so may struggle to complete the hat-trick.

ZIHAAM under a penalty, confirmed return to form, adding further lustre to his course record, but again didn't really convince with how he went about things; in rear, off the bridle long way out, carried head awkwardly straight, ran on late, never nearer.

MIDNITE BRIDE form of latest success has been franked a couple of times since and she ran well again, for all that her winning streak ended, opening up more options regarding trip in the process; slowly into stride, mid-division, shaken up 3f out, headway 2f out, no extra final 1f.

HUMBERT (IRE) back on turf, went backwards from reappearance and is yet to find his stride for this yard; prominent, shaken up 3f out, weakened final 1f.

MYTHICAL MADNESS back in handicap company, again ran below form; patiently ridden, raced freely, pushed along 3f out, carried head bit awkwardly, headway under pressure 2f out, effort flattened out.

SONG OF THE ISLES (IRE) again ran below form; disputed lead, headed halfway, remained prominent, ridden 3f out, weakened from 2f out.

STRONGBOWE (FR) was well backed but followed a below-par effort with an even worse one, possibly unsuited by conditions; dwelt, in rear, driven 3f out, not quicken, looked awkward.
