would give an on-song Faugheen all he could handle in receipt of her mares allowance, making the trio she'd already hammered in the Champion Hurdle easy prey again here, a cut above on these terms even if The New One's fall and the clearly below-par efforts of the placed pair from Cheltenham exaggerated her superiority, taking over around halfway and sauntering clear from 3 out as the second/third wilted, testament to her durability and versatility that she'd be able to perform at 100% over a different trip just 3 weeks on while her main rivals weren't; she'll continue to take all the beating and, having not returned to the track until mid-February, she'll be fresher than most who attempt a Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown triple-header, last achieved outside hunter company by Sprinter Sacre in 2013.
prominent, jumped very well, went on over circuit out, drew clear from 3 out, hard held

wouldn't have beaten Annie Power at 2m but certainly left the impression he didn't stay the longer trip on a belated first try, the quick turnaround - having been off so long prior to Cheltenham - another possible explanation for his feeble finishing effort, typically taking a strong hold yet seemingly going well when moved close up 3 out only to wilt from the next.
held up, prominent early final circuit, shaken up after 3 out, faltered next, beaten when blundered last

has yet to finish out of the placings when completing but his 2 runs either side of Cheltenham have been undeniably tame, looking ill at ease from early on here (jumped right and lost lead over a circuit out) before folding badly in the straight.
jumped right, led until over circuit out, stayed prominent until 3 out, weakened quickly

should have been suited by the return to further but ran even worse than when put in his place in the Champion Hurdle, dropping away in strides at the end of the back straight; he's either flattered by his win in the Relkeel or else left his season behind in producing that career-best display.
in touch, soon beaten end of back straight

survived one mistake at the third only to fall heavily 2 flights later; this was his first ever non-completion, but that shouldn't mask the fact his jumping has long since been a weakness.

Less a race than a coronation, Annie Power's clear-cut success cementing her status as the leading shorter-distance hurdler around in the injury-enforced absence of stablemate Faugheen, even a sensibly conservative view of the bare form - the 3 Champion Hurdle frame-fillers who reopposed either failed to complete or clearly failed to perform - putting her in advance of fellow Mullins-trained Arctic Fire in the hurdling hierarchy.

ANNIE POWER (IRE) would give an on-song Faugheen all he could handle in receipt of her mares allowance, making the trio she'd already hammered in the Champion Hurdle easy prey again here, a cut above on these terms even if The New One's fall and the clearly below-par efforts of the placed pair from Cheltenham exaggerated her superiority, taking over around halfway and sauntering clear from 3 out as the second/third wilted, testament to her durability and versatility that she'd be able to perform at 100% over a different trip just 3 weeks on while her main rivals weren't; she'll continue to take all the beating and, having not returned to the track until mid-February, she'll be fresher than most who attempt a Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown triple-header, last achieved outside hunter company by Sprinter Sacre in 2013.
