1 - SUN POWER (15) Richard Hannon/Silvestre De Sousa

Useful juvenile who raced freely when below-par fifth of 7 in Sirenia Stakes (15/8) at Kempton (6f), finding little. Stamina to prove too so vulnerable off top weight.

2 - VERBOTEN (18) John Gosden/Frankie Dettori

Made winning debut at Yarmouth (7f) before finding Newcastle Group 1 too much. Good fourth in 7f Lingfield handicap on return, finishing well having been drawn wide. Return to 1m will suit so player.

3 - CHEROKEE TRIAL (2) John Gosden/Ryan Moore

Won first 2 starts at 7f, looking potentially smart. Went the wrong way on next couple of runs but back on track when good fourth in 10f listed race at Newmarket on return. Respected on handicap bow.

4 - TORO STRIKE (26) Richard Fahey/Tony Hamilton

Thirsk 6f maiden winner who posted good placed efforts over 7f in Glorious Goodwood nursery and valuable minor event at Doncaster last two starts. Should prove effective over 1m but has lots to find.

5 - STARCAT (1) Hughie Morrison/P.J. McDonald

Looked fine prospect when making winning debut in 1m Kempton novice. Very much pitched in at deep end on return but posted excellent seventh in 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. Intriguing handicap debutant.

6 - KHALOOSY (19) Roger Varian/Jim Crowley

Built on debut promise and looked potentially smart when landing 8.6f Wolverhampton novice with plenty in hand in November. Capable of considerably better so highly respected going into handicaps now.

7 - KONDRATIEV WAVE (25) Tony Carroll/Ben Curtis

Came good for new yard in cheekpieces at Kempton in January and recorded best effort yet when runner-up to Ziggle Pops in 7f Lingfield handicap 13 days ago. Fair bit more needed here though up 3 lb.

8 - GLASVEGAS (13) Keith Dalgleish/Callum Rodriguez

Dual juvenile winner who caught eye with strong-finishing third in Windsor Castle Stakes here. Disappointing final start and again on return in Group 3 at Newcastle. Blinkers on with plenty to prove.

9 - SHARED BELIEF (11) Archie Watson/Daniel Tudhope

Debut 7f maiden winner at Sandown in June and improved form when twice in frame in 1m listed races at Deauville and Lyon Parilly in autumn. Fairly useful but opening mark looks very harsh. Gelded.

10 - JOHAN (10) William Haggas/James Doyle

Promising dual winner at 2yrs who returned much improved with taking success in 1m handicap at Newbury 6 days ago, really strong at the finish. Better to come so very interesting under a 5 lb penalty.

11 - PATH OF THUNDER (9) Charlie Appleby/William Buick

375,000 gns purchase who improved with each of his four runs as 2-y-o, readily landing 7f Newmarket nursery when last seen. Cheekpieces worn there are returned and better to come over 1m. Gelded..

12 - ZIGGLE POPS (16) Richard Hannon/Sean Levey

22/1, returned with much improved effort to land 7f handicap at Lingfield (AW) 13 days ago, getting up on post. 1m should suit but this is much tougher.

13 - DUBAI MIRAGE (3) Saeed bin Suroor/Cieran Fallon (3)

Promising placed efforts in two maidens before opening his account in good style in 1m Kempton maiden 6 days ago. Saddles 5 lb penalty for handicap bow but not totally discounted. Cheekpieces fitted.

14 - HE'S A KEEPER (6) Tom Dascombe/Richard Kingscote

Fair 1m juvenile winner at Haydock who returned after 8 months off (also gelded) with excellent fourth in 1m Newcastle handicap 12 days ago. Dropped 2 lb but he still needs another big step forward.

15 - DANCE FEVER (8) Clive Cox/Liam Keniry

Unbeaten in three runs as a 2-y-o, signing off with victory in 7f Kempton nursery in November in a good time. In good hands and will improve for the step up to 1m so shouldn't be ruled out lightly.

16 - HARRISON POINT (27) Archie Watson/Hollie Doyle

Dual 7f AW winner in winter before very good fifth in 1m listed race at Cagnes-Sur-Mer. Goes into handicaps now but he has lots to find off a stiff opening mark.

17 - GROVE FERRY (24) Andrew Balding/David Probert

Looked progressive when landing 6f/7f novice wins last summer and duly improved on return when third of 11 to Ziggle Pops in 7f Lingfield handicap. Step up to 1m will really suit so commands respect.

18 - ESHAASY (23) John Gosden/Robert Havlin

Readily landed 7f Kempton novice in August but well held in Sandown Group 3 and 1m Newmarket novice subsequently. Gelded and very well bred so he remains with plenty of potential for leading yard.

19 - ENEMY (21) John Gosden/Oisin Murphy

Impressed on debut with taking 7f Ascot maiden win and better form on his return despite failing to land the odds when second to Mister Snowdon in 7f Yarmouth novice. Fair bit better to come over 1m.

20 - WORLD TITLE (12) Archie Watson/Kieran Shoemark

Arrives on a hat-trick after twice scoring in 1m Ripon nurseries last autumn. Up 3 lb and this is much tougher so plenty more improvement is required.

21 - GREAT AMBASSADOR (20) Ralph Beckett/Harry Bentley

Confirmed previous promise when readily landing the odds in 7f novice at Chelmsford in November. Has plenty of scope so he's not totally discounted for in-form yard now going into handicaps. Gelded.

22 - FINEST SOUND (17) Simon & Ed Crisford/Andrea Atzeni

Opened his account in scintillating style (had wind op/gelded) when wide-margin winner of 1m Haydock handicap on return, drawing clear last 1f. Sure to take a lot of beating under mere 5 lb penalty.

23 - ALL YOU WISH (4) Andrew Balding/Jason Watson

All-the-way 7f Kempton novice winner in September but failed to repeat that effort at Yarmouth (7f, firm) on return 14 days ago. Needs to bounce back on handicap debut. Engaged 6.50 Chelmsford Weds.

24 - AMYASMONT (7) Richard Fahey/David Egan

6f Carlisle maiden winner on debut last August and returned from 8 months off with good sixth to Ziggle Pops in 7f Lingfield handicap (AW). 1m will suit but he needs plenty more if he's to figure.

25 - OVERWRITE (22) Mark Johnston (Reserve)

Improved with each of his three outings as a juvenile, landing 7f Bath novice, and back with good fourth in 7f Newcastle handicap 16 days ago. Will benefit from step up to 1m. RESERVE.

26 - AYR HARBOR (14) Michael Appleby (Reserve)

Dual 7f AW handicap winner in winter and resumed his progress after 3 months off when runner-up in 7f Newcastle handicap 16 days ago. Faces stiff task on his turf debut here, however. RESERVE.

27 - ESTABLISH (5) Roger Varian (Reserve)

Yet to win in four starts but has shown plenty and an unlucky third of 12 on his handicap debut/return over 1m at Lingfield, suffering poor run and finishing strongly. Very interesting. RESERVE.

Timeform Analyst's Verdict:

Usually one of the most competitive handicaps of the meeting but it's impossible to ignore the claims of FINEST SOUND, who looked destined for better things when spreadeagling his field at Haydock and is sure to take some stopping under a 5 lb penalty. Johan also lines up under a penalty on the back of an improved reappearance win so rates the chief danger with Verboten the pick of the remainder.
