Circus Maximus - Queen Anne Stakes (13:50, Tuesday)
Circus Maximus started last year on the Derby trail but it was when dropped back to a mile that he really found his niche. Successful in the St James’s Palace Stakes here on the round course and the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp last year, he wasn’t seen to best effect around the tight Santa Anita circuit in the Breeders’ Cup Mile on his final start and appeals as the type to do even better as a four-year-old. Aidan O’Brien’s team have emerged from lockdown in rude health and Circus Maximus should take all the beating in in what doesn’t look a vintage renewal of the Queen Anne.

Nazeef - Duke of Cambridge Stakes (16:10, Tuesday)
Nazeef created a big impression when racking up a hat-trick as a three-year-old and confirmed all of that promise as she made a winning reappearance in a listed event at Kempton a fortnight ago, overcoming a positional bias and picking off dual Group 1 winner Billesdon Brook. She’s already shown herself to be a straightforward type, has got more to come and looks sure to take this step up in grade in her stride, whilst that spin around Kempton may give her a fitness edge over some of her main rivals.

Talbot - Norfolk Stakes (14:25, Friday)
Playing in the two-year-old races is arguably even trickier than usual with trainers having only just over two weeks to make their claim, but one of the once-raced winners that seems to have gone under the radar so far is Talbot, and he’s worth backing for the Norfolk now it’s clear he no longer has the Windsor Castle as an option. He showed a really good turn of foot to reel back Jojo Rabbit in a good time at Lingfield and that rival has already come out and boosted the form with a win at Wolverhampton. Talbot doesn’t have much to find with the likes of Eye of Heaven and The Lir Jet, but can be backed at a fair bit bigger than that pair.

Wooded - Commonwealth Cup (15:35, Friday)
I’m interested in Wooded at double-figure odds for the Commonwealth Cup. He only beat useful rivals in a Group 3 at Chantilly last month, but he did it hands down, in a good time, and was clearly suited by dropping back to six furlongs. It may not take much more improvement to win this, and I think the market leaders are gettable, with Pierre Lapin lacking experience and a recent run, Kimari having more improving to do than her price suggests, and Golden Horde, to my eyes at least, lacking the zip you’d like to see from a potential Group 1 sprinter.
